Press Bio
Ethan & Kate see their music as a vehicle for education and inspiration, a spark thrown into the fuel of our collective yearnings for more just, joyful and dignified worlds. Inspired by a long tradition of political singing and songwriting, these songs speak from an ongoing commitment to struggles for social, ecological and economic justice.
Their songs seek to combine hard-hitting social analysis with lyric poetry, high-energy musical outrage with the grounding spirit of harmony, and a traditional melodic folk style with influences of spoken-word poetry, rock, gospel and hip-hop.
Ethan & Kate have shared the stage with artists such as Pete Seeger, Emma's Revolution, Michelle Shocked, Jim Page, Charlie King & Karen Brandow, Kim & Reggie Harris, and Roy Brown.
Reviews
"These songs are half Woody Guthrie, half Noam Chomsky-- simultaneously educating, inspiring, and rocking the assembled. Add infectious melodies to insights and you suddenly have what can only be called a political aphrodisiac."
-David Kubiak, Big Medicine"Gorgeous music, incredible words, gentle voice... these songs need to be heard!"
- Linda Serafind, Camden, ME
"These are not your typical anti-war peace songs with a few feel-good lines thrown in. Your pieces have real economic and political value."
-Thomas Naylor, Charlotte, VT
